Default Transmission Disassembly

Anyone know what holds the bell housing to the transmission after all the bolts/sealant are removed?

Also, does anyone need any tranny internals? Tranny mounts? Etc? (off a '98 civic ex coupe)

Thanks guys.

there is a c-clip holding the main shaft up. better to find someone who know about it to do it with you.

I'll try to look for it, thanks. The tranny has a cracked housing and what seems to be a bad bearing, so I'm taking it apart for kicks and looking for anything salvagable....

I think I've found what you're talking about. It's behind a plug on the side opposite from the bellhousing, right? I tried to seperate the clip, while pulling the housings apart, but this didn't work. Could you provide a little more info? Thanks.

yea, that c-clip is behind the biggest bolt on the housing. use a piller to seperste the clip and pull the housing apart. AND there should be 2 12/14mm bolt that hold 2 steel ball and spring. make sure thats out before pulling the housing apart.

separate the c-clip enough to make it move outside th egroove it is into when closed.

that should allow you to separate the casing halves.

you also need to remove two bolts on the side of the casing, each has a ball bearing on the end of it to locate an internal shaft/rod. Did you remove the bolts and ball bearings already?

Yep, those bolts are out. I found 3 w/ springs at the ends, and took them all out. I tried seperating the c clip as much as possible, but the tranny doesn't want to seperate. How much force should I be using? Thanks for helping out, I feel like it's almost open and I'm forgetting some little detail.

EDIT: I just want to note that the 3 bolts came out with a spring, but not a ball bearing. Should those fall out too? Could that what's holding it together?
