ok so if im driving around at like highway speeds i usually get a check engine light and when i check the ecu its a 23 which is a knock sensor code. how can i tell if my engine is knocking or if its just not hooked up right? if its not hooked up right shouldn't it always be on? or could it be doing what im describing here? sometimes i hear a clicking like a spark plug wire is loose and sparking the block, could that be knock? is knock another term for detonation? thanks for the help

 

dude i have had the same problem since my swap, from what i can gather it isn't coming on until the engine gets up to temperature which makes me think that maybe the fuse and wire are getting hot somewhere along the line, atleast i hope thats what it is, i hope my **** aint knockin, i've heard of people covering the wire in speaker cable stuff, you know the real thick ****, and i also had someone tell me that when they drove with t here hood off it never came on, further proving my theory that it is gettting hot somewhere.

interesting, i never really thought of temperature. maybe i will do some type of simple insulation. quick question, if the sensor is unplugged the ecu light should always be on, not just when im driving around for some time right?

 

yeah, here's the wierd part, I HAVEN"T HAD THE KNOCK SENSOR IN FOR THR MONTHS and the ******* light still comes on everyday about 10-15 minutes after i start driving...chew on that ****

 

hmm that makes me think, im gonna look into it some more and see what i can find, first im gonna check my wiring then look for some insulation, thanks for the help and gl with your ticket!

 

i've been researching it a lot in the archived forums, and there is really no simple way to fix this....best option is to just replace it, and make sure it's wired right with shieled wire....couldn't hurt to insulate it as well. OR get a chipped ECU which would proble be more expensive than doing it right

 

if your wire is not hook up to knock sensor it will not turn on your engine lite right away....only when u reach up to 5k rpm.......and it will store the code 23 until u clear it......so again only when u high rpm then ecm look into knock sensor feed back......so if wire is conected right and u check no open in wire from ecm to knock sensor ..i would replace it. aight....
