Default Odd noises from down below...

Sometimes when im starting my car it makes this weird noise from the starter. It souns like....like my car is already started and im turning it over again? Its weird its just for a split second then my engine turns right over. I was wondering if this is a sign of the starter going or maybe something else? I figured this would be the place to ask. thanks.

Yep, your starter is begining to fail, or your ignition switch is sticking=(

i dont think its starting to fail because it fires right up but like right at the end of the ignition fire in makes that scratching noise for a split second so maybe it is sticking a little. if thats the case how would i go about fixing that?

If you keep doing that without fixing it, it will sheer a tooth off of your flywheel.

Well,

I would pull the starter if you know for a fact that's where is coming from. Make sure all the teeth are intact on the starter. If they are rotate your engine and look carefully at all the splines on the flywheel (with the starter off obviously.) If everything looks good your starting solenoid or the machanism that pulls the starter gear to the flywheel is malfunctioning (new starter if not mitsuba, mitsuba's are rebuildable if im not mistaken.)

oh yeah, before you do all this when does it grind, everytime or on occasion? (Answering this question may save time and knuckle skin)

When it grinds do you hear a click right before the starter begins cranking? That click is the starter gear moving and mating with the flywheel. Click=good, weird noise/ no click=bad starter/circuit. Give me more info... does your car ever die or doe the starter sometime not run at all??? ...im gonna have a frosty one
