b18b...when do you have to start retarding the timing when boosting?
ls motors have a low compression, so when do you have to start retarding the timing when running a turbo kit? i've heard that some people are leaving theirs at stock setting running 8psi with a small turbo and some people put theirs back 3 degrees running 10psi with a t3/t4 turbo.
what i was thinking...ls motor have low compression...so why the need to retard the timing so much? i've heard of retarding the timing .5 for every lb of boost.
i'm pushing 8psi right now on a small turbo and my timing is at 13 and i have no problems what so ever. compared to my friend who has the same motor thats pushing 10psi but with a bigger turbo and his timing is at 13. so i just figure with a smaller turbo, why wouldn't it be safe to keep the timing at normal?

how long have you been running 8psi and stock timing? what size turbo you got?
the guy i bought my turbo from was using it on an ls motor and he told me to leave my timing at stock setting while running 8psi...thats what he had it at running 8lbs and he never had any problems with anything.

hell i advnaced my timing on a t3/t4 b18b.... i think... i just noticed one day that my distributor was all the way retarded (dumbass previous owners), so i set that baby at a little more than 1/2 way and had my chip take out .5 degrees per lb/boost
i think i was at somewhere between 13 and 15 degrees. hell i even ran a couple 13.5:1 a/f ratio runs while tuning and i still haev 150 across on my 140k mile motor
