Default Short shift adapter vs Short shifter

I see that short shift adapter is much cheaper than the short shifter for 98ls.
does the short shift adapter do the same job as the short shifter?
Short shift adapter seems easy to put on, but the short shifter seems pain in the neck.
If the short shifter reduces the throw by 40%, would the short shift adapter would reduce it as much as the shifter?
Thank you

Short shift adapter for a Teg? I thought they were for Accords and 'Ludes that have cable-operated linkages. Civics and Integras use a direct linkage that goes underneath the car, so you would swap out the shift lever to reduce the throw. The adapter plate on Accords and Preludes just cuts the distance between the cables and the transmission.
