Ground Wire
Ok, so what does the ground wire that goes from the valve cover to that bold next to the headlight do? A friend of mine broke it off yesterday working on his car... I didn't know what to tell him. The car runs fine, and the headlights are working fine... It's not something that's hard to fix, but i've just gotten curious thinking about what it does.
thanks

I think he said that he was trying to tighten the bolt that it goes on by the headlight and just broke the wire... i don't know, after a while those kind of things can just get brittle... get bent back and forth too many times and decide to go one day. My check engine light came on once, showing the coolant temp sensor... turned out to be the wires that go into the sensor just broke... Anyway, I went to a stereo shop downtown and bought him some 8guage stinger wire for $.50.

Definitely replace it.
I took my car to a mechanic, once, and he knocked off a ground wire that apparently exists underneath the car somewhere. After a month and a new distributor, I visited the crxresource and some nice guys suggested this was the problem...
Tach jumped, car stuttered and eventually it would die and not start... all from a disconnected ground wire.

Probably the Thermostat ground. Its not under the car, there are none under the car, but its sort of in the back. I hear that messes up your car a whole bunch.
