Default Who is running 13s or faster ? I want opinions for a setup.

Hello everyone,

I´m looking for the cheapest way to run mid 13s on a h22a prelude. I know there is no such thing as cheap but something along the lines of easy with minimum expenses.

I´m not interested in doing a turbo setup as this will be the daily driven car out of my two -- and besides I already have a car that was made for boost.

I was thinking of building it and going with a nitrous shot, but I would like to play safe. Right now I´m thinking of a fully built engine and all the supporting basics such as intake/exhaust and a nice LSD w/ good tires to avoid traction loss.

Anyone has a setup similar to the one I mentioned ? Is it possible to suceed in my goal ? Let me hear some opinions...

Thanks!

65 shot, i/e, MSD dig 6, Blaster 3 coil, exedy clutch= 13.6@104.5 on khumo ecstas. I have more mods done to the car but they don't actually help my times.
Edit: this is on a USDM H22A1 in a 2700 lb 93 prelude

There's no point to fully building out the motor, if you're not gonna boost it or put a hefty shot of spray on it.

Put on some nitrous and get some good tires.

I´m gonna build it because I wanna play safe. The car I´m looking into buying will have very high mileage (around 150k) and definitively could use a rebuild. Who knows what the previous owner did to the car... poor oil changes, old belts... I think it´s better to start with a new one. But anyway, 65 shot seems decent, maybe ill go with a 100shot -- on a build engine that shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for the info.

A 100 shot isn't a problem on stock h22 provided it is in good condition. With some traction a 100 shot should get a prelude into the 12s. I'd look into a progressive controller and see how much of a guarantee that NX will put behind their noids. The last time I talked ot them they were very proud of their new seals, saying that they were designed to hold up to their progressive controller.

What altitude do you want to do 13's at? That makes all the difference

You can get ludes in the 13s pretty easy if you know how to drive... I/H/E cams, cam gears, V-AFC all well tuned with good tires will get you there with a good flywheel clutch setup you should be all over the thirteens... (I mean hitting them regularly not really mid-13s or anything) Or you could go with Nitrous... A bolt on turbo kit would probably get you there... Alot will depend on traction so good tires and at least aftermarket springs and shocks(GOOD ONES!)

maybe good tires as in slicks... 13's is almost a second and a half off of spec #'s. Atleast at the track we run at, the f-max kit with 6 pounds (and if i remember the slicks were on at the time) and running 9:1 got a 13.9 Doing a clutch flywheel and a few other things dropped that to 13.7, and the NX fogger kit with a T3/04E Erick's Racing TB and a few other do-dah's dropped that to a 12.91.

Again it depends on the track and altitude. Where we run isn't too high of an altitude, but the track is uphill the whole way rather than the standard slightly down and then up at the end

IF you wanna play it cheap why not just rebuild to factory specs... remember you have the sleeve the H-series (topic beaten to death) so you can expect to spend 1000 doing that and another 1500 on pistons/rods/etc. ...... or if you just get new honda stuff and leave the sleeves you only are looking at 1500 tops......thats what I'd do....

Actually no I wouldn't.... the prelude is a heavy car and there's no cheap way to get it to go fast......... and theres no way in hell it held a 100 shot for that long on that tired motor ""yo""......sorry...just my .02
