If its going to be a daily driver, then yes VTEC is a very good choice. If it is just your non-lisenced dragster, then you could stick with the stock head and get a freakin high lifting cam to open the valves as much as the VTEC does. You wouldn't have to wait on VTEC to engage either. But then again, I don't think you'd get too far in the brakets with a D16A6 'non-lisenced dragster'... I would do the swap.

I hate it though how most of everyone says that you HAVE to go with a B swap or ZC or even a mini me to have a respectable car. No doubt about it, the VTEC gives you horsepower, but if you just do some work on it, a stock head will pull just as much as a VTEC. Just without the gas mileage.

yeh, i dont think id swap for a b series even if someone would do it for free. i want the power of vtec but i dont want to put too hard of a cam so that my idle sucks really bad, but ... i guess ill jsut think about it some more

Just to let you know, you dont want a big cam with turbo. The over lap that a large cam creates, is bad for turbo, it lets the boost pressure out of the cylinder because it take longer for the valve to close. A stock cam will do nicely for boost.
