couple questions on valve adjustment/cam install (c-speed helped a little)
my friend is thinkin of getting skunk 2 stage 1s for his R and wants to install them with me. c-speed makes it seem pretty easy, but i wanted some input from other DIYers.
also, does anyone know what the specs are for the valve adjustment for s2 stage 1s? i heard the stock specs of .007i and .008e are fine, but i just wanted to double check.
also, does anyone think that my idea for a special tool would work (i took the idea from removing the struts on my Corrado). take a 10mm socket and hold it with some vice grips. then the top is open so you could stick a screwdriver in there. any flaws with this idea? do you think autozone has that tool? cause they have a policy that you could borrow any of their tools for free and it seeps like its a common tool, so u think they'll have the lock nut tool for hondas?
what are the TQ specs on the bolts for the seats, are they the same as the gs-r?
would you guys recommend new cam seals even if the original ones may look fine?
one more question.... do you have to use a bent valve feeler for the intake side like c-speed says or is the straight one fine, cause i got the straight ones alredy?
sorry about all the questions, i didnt find that much on the search and i just want to be 100% sure i could do this before i jump into it. right now im about 99.2% sure
.
THANKS!

bent ones arent necessary, provided its the proper spec...it just so happenst he bent ones are easier to use....atleast imo.

Use the stock valve specs. Be sure to lube everything down really good. As far as the cam seals they are cheap and easy to replace. I'd do it if you least bit expect a problem with the current ones.
I have Skunk Stage 1's and installed them myself. Never done anything to a honda before either, pretty straight forward. Pick up a Helms manual if you can, but I've used a plain old Haynes manual to guide me along (just check important torque specs for accuracy). There is certain bolt tigtening sequences you are supposed to follow and it will help. Oh and be sure to keep all the cam caps organized, don't mix then up.
Oh and get some finger nail polish or a white paint pen to mark the timing belt so that you will be sure to install it back correctly.
