Does the oil dummy light usually come on?
I just finished swapping in my freshly rebuilt motor, and everything is perfect. The only thing I noticed is that my oil light doesn't come on when I turn the key to the II position, when all of the other dummy lights come on. I extended the wire to a brass tee, where the sensor is. If it's getting no signal shouldn't the light come on anyways? I can't remember if that light always came on before the swap or not.
hrmm? not sure if this applies but i know when my friend did his h22 swap in an accord, he had to change the wires for the oil sending unit and coolent temp? around and that fixed it? whats ur swap? maybe u need to check the wiring for it
With the engine running and normal oil pressure, the oil pressure switch is open and the oil pressure warning light does not operate. If the oil p.s drops below 4.3 psi the oil switch is closed, current flow threw the oil pressure warning light and the ground, and the oil pressure light goes on. So if the light don't come on at all when you turn the jey just twice I would say the wiring is messed up.
So yes, it should come on? The only different wiring I did to it was the extension. Does the sensor ground out on the block, but can't ground on the brass maybe?
YES the light should come on when in the ignition II position. Ever think about checking the oil press dummy bulb to see if its burned out? Switch the bulb with the any of the other dummy light bulbs and if it turns on with the key in the II position, then u found ur problem. Sometimes people overlook the easiest things.

Can brass be grounded ? I think it can, because in order for my coolant temp gauge to work I need to ground the brass fitting. So try grounding the brass fitting or just the sensor.

No I thought of that too, but I just wanted to make sure the light was suppossed to come on first.

Brass conducts electricity.

Well seeing as how ALL the other dummy lights come on before u start the car...that gives u your answer right there.
