either a b16 head or c5 head is supposed to be best.... b16a head flows better than the c1 head.

The b16a head and the b18c5 is the same cast, just the b18c5 head has had some minor headwork, the b18c1 will have .2 higher comp then the b16a or b18c5. The b18c5 head also has better cams followed by b18c1 cams, then the b16a cams. Anyways I have an LS/VTEC with a b16a head...
my setup is:I've had a no problem LS/VTEC for about 13,000mi now... my setup is as follows:

LS/VTEC engine converterd, balanced & blueprinted @ 4,000mi (Now has ~40Kmi)
-Type R Oil Pump
-Hydraulic SiR Transmission w/ Cusco LSD
-Clutch Specialites Street/Strip clutch
-2lbs. off B16 flywheel
-USDM ITR pistons
-JDM B16A head
-ITR Intake Manifold
-Mugen ECU
-JDM 4-1 DC Sports Header
-Carsound 2.5" Cat
-Mandrel Bent 2.5" Cat back Exhaust with BOMZ Racing Muffler
-ICEMAN CAI
-B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator

I was told that the b16 only gives like 5-10 hp on top of the ls motor. Is that accurate or nbot ?....I know the b18c5 with rods and pistons will give around 200 whp

All the heads are different it just depends what kind of gains your looking for... If your looking for the most power dont spend the cash on the c5 head when you can find a b16 head and go all out and port/polish it.

If you didnt know ITR pistons fit in an ls block you have a lot more researching to do before you try and put together an ls/vtec. Search around.. theres alot of good info in the all-motor forum. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=501372. Theres good info in that thread too. Just reply with any questions and Im sure I can help seeing how I have an ls/vtec myself.
