My car is shifting like crap and goes into reverse with a big clunk. I know it's probably due to low fluid. I DO NOT need a flush. It's only been maybe 5-8K miles since the new block was installed.
Is there a way to fill the tranny with the car still on the ground? Or do I need 2 jackstands? 4 jackstands? I think there are two fill holes and 1 drain bolt. I do not need to access the drain bolt which I know is on the bottom of the tranny. Any pictures to help me add tranny fluid?
me when it comes to working on cars
I don't want to drive the car again without taking care of this cause I'm afraid the tranny is going to lock up.

You can fill by removing the VSS.... but without removing the fill hole on the side you wont know if its over-full or not, since you dont know how full/low the tranny is currently.

What's VSS? Is the side one accessible without jacking up the car?

I thought the speed sensor was just a plug?

It is, but comes off completely by removing two 10mm bolts.

Without knowing if you are low or not...I think the best bet would just be to flush the tranny. It is not difficult and will take you less then 20 minutes to do the whole job.
If you are in the bay area, you can bring the car to me and I can show you how to do it. Easy as pie

He is not in the bay area, he's over here.
Hey Marc, didn't you do your tranny fluid at Yack's on the way to Expo? Or was that Chris... Anyway, since you'll have to remove the fill plug no matter how you do it, you may as well just use the funnel with the long hose trick.

It's just (1) 10mm bolt. It's the long one that sticks up. Remove it and wiggle the VSS out of mesh with the FD ring gear.
Use like 3 or 4 6" extensions if you don't wanna remove the intake.
17mm box wrench for the fill bolt to check your fluid level.
Maybe if you're real lazy, you can jack up the passenger-side, remove the 17mm fill bolt, slide a drain pan under the fill bolt (lowered??), put the car down, fill from the VSS until it starts to pour out from the fill hole, then jack the car up from the passenger-side again to hold the fluid in and replace the fill bolt.

I flush mine every ~5000-6,000 miles anyway.
j00 can do it!
