Default What ECU to use for LS/VTEC

Pretty straight forward question from the topic.

I'm going to be running an LS/VTEC just wondering what is the best ECU to use?

I have an OBD1 94 Integra LS and i'll be using a B16a1 head (1st gen)

Yeah, that's an option, but isn't the intake manifold 2-stage so it wouldn't be completely compatible?

A p28 with Hondata would be sweet.
We pulled 185 whp on a relatively mild B20/VTEC after less than an hour of Hondata tuning.

like everyone says, use a p28 and get it chipped. you want a program that kicks your vtec in at about 4800. but you have to play with it. between 4500 - 5000 seems to be your best bet.

IMO run stock ls ecu and buy a vafc, kill tw0 birds w/ one stone. vtec activation(adjustable) and mild fuel tunabilty. if u wire it in just as the instructions say, it will send a signal to the seloind+switch to activate vtec. other options are the obvious p72 and ch p28. but w/ the p72 and b18b block u also have to buy and wire in a knock sensor, and it will also look for the gsr IM butterfly sensor. a properly chipped p28 is pretty fool proof, no knock sensor needed, but the vtec and fuel maps are not adjustable at all. also one downside to the first option is that u will have to retain the crappy LS 7000 redline, if ur all motor, most of ur meet will be around 6500-8500 anyway, unless theres a way to bypass the redline, msd???

From my understanding.. you can up the redline by using shotpeened rods, new bearings, ARP rod bolts. But i'm just doing this as a replacement for my shot B18b head, performance is sorta in there but not really. i found a steal for a B16 head.

no, we are talking about the rev-limiter on the LS ecu.

the best combo right there plenty of p28 out there and plenty of chips for it
http://www.hyperducktunning.com
but the other set up you mentioned ls ecu and a VAFC
wont work that good..
but it will work..

ok ok ok...here's where I come in..for all you ecu chipping needs....contact me ....everyone who does lsvtec, poor mans itr, b20vtec, or just a high compression n/a set up...they usually end up getting my custom all motor chipped p28 ecu. Its not smart to have a high rev limit because all the power is made in the mid range on the lsvtec. I can lower rev limit for you and set vtec to whereever you want it. If you plan on doing some fine tuning, then i'd recommend going w/ hondata. You dont want to use the p72 GSR ecu because on the GSR, the manifold has the secondary butterflies..the b16a head/manifold doesnt. If you want more info, pm me or email me
