Default Requested by fellow Honda-Techers : White Low Beams w/o HID

Well I posted some pics of my car at night and got MANY people asking me how I made my Low Beams white/blue without HID. This is not a problem with most cars except for the integra cuz of the damn deflectors. Anyway, my solution was very simple..... (the pics dont show the TRUE color of light for some reason).

I wanted a clean blue light effect without dishing out the extra cash on an HID kit (needed to save for a turbo). I bought some PIAA bulbs, low and high beam. I realized that the low beams where yellow where as the high beams where blue/white. Well I did research and realized it was because of the deflectors. Well I got to thinkin, maybe, just maybe if I put my 9005's in my 9006 slot, it would show blue. And sure enough it did...

Cost:

(2) 9005 Harness (I chose the extra thick harness) 4.99
(1) Soldering Iron (should already have, will come in handy) 5 bucks at the Shack
(2) Bulbs (Prices vary)

Procedure:

First thing you need to do, is SNIP the ledge of the bulb at the back... Cut HALF of it off as shown in pic...

Make sure it now fits in the 9006 slot... IF not, cut a little more...

After you cut, here comes the "hard" part. I dont have pics for this cuz I didnt take pics when I was doing it.....

There should be TWO wires for each harness... CUT both wires with enough room strip the coating about 3/4 inch (thats more than you need, but the more the wire makes contact with the new harness the better.)

Wrap the the two wires you stripped with the new harness (should already be stripped, but if not do so now). Heat the WIRE until when you touch the solder to the WIRE itself, it melts. This way the solder filters through the wiring for the best conduction....

Wrap each solder (should be two per harness) with electrical tape, nice and tight. Test the first side and make sure it works.

Do the same on the other side.

This is roughly a 10 dollar conversion that gives you the blue look and the extra light output..... I know some people are gonna think its "ghetto" but it works and works well.....

Here are pics (the pics dont do justice, but there should be a couple people willing to testify to the look).....

not being an *** but its been done by alot...and you DO NOT need to cut the wires. all you need to do is dremel out the tabs in the 9005 bulbs to make them fit the 9006 sotck harness. This way you do not cut the wires and all you have modify is the bulb.

Yea I don't about Honda-TEch but on team-integra the "9005" conversion is pretty popular. I have it on my GSR and love it. I'm running "9005 cool blues"

I did this almost 2 years ago, I haven't had 9006 bulbs in my projectors almost since I bought the car. Ran 9005's for 1.5 yrs then got HID's. 9005 conversion is a great bang for the buck mod for more light, but it's nowhere near HID.

for a good effort.

The common occurance is bulb burnout rate of the 9005 conversion.
HID is still brighter but you cant beat a $10 mod.
