got the swap done but it smokes :(
ok a got my b18c1 in my 92 cx. when i finally got to drive it it will smoke when it goes into high rpm. it has a new headset so it can't be a bad gasket.
the only thing i thought it could be was to much fuel because i am running a chip p28 ecu. with a type r program.
let me know what you think.

well it's probably coolant / water but, if it really is gray, then it could be oil.... was the head gasket properly installed? did you do a compression and leakdown test?
everything checked out fine. the headset was done professionally. i also checked the oil and it is on the upper dot on the dip stick. radiator level is good to.
i am just confused, the car run great though

well odds are its just fuel so it should be black.
blue is oil
white is coolant.
most "high performance" honda engines (b16, b18c, c5) give a little puff of black smoke at high RPM range because of excess fuel.

my friends typer does puff a little in the upper rpm range. so i guess i will just wait and see.

Does the car over heat? Does it run like ****?
Do a compression and a leak down test on the motor, be sure those rings are good.
Valve seals smoke at idle, so if it doesn't then it's prolly not those.
If the smoke hangs around for a while (gray/white/white-blue) it's oil.

by "burning water" I'm guessing that you mean that your coolant level is dropping down, eh? could be that your headgasket is allowing some coolant to get into the combustion chambers (yes, I know it's a new gasket) but that could still be the problem. Or it could be that you have a coolant leak somewhere and the low coolant level isn't related at all to the "smoke" that you're seeing...

Or the motor may not be complety full of coolant. When I did my swap we had to raise the front of the car to get coolant into the highest point of the head. Even then a few days later I had to do it once more...now its all good.
However I think you might be burning coolant

well after driving around for a couple of hours fixed one small hose leak. but there is black sut all over the back of the car. a friend said that was unused fuel.
which i guess it could be that cause i am running a chipped p28. it only does it when vtec kicks in. so my theory is when that happens and it switches to a different map then it throws alot of fuel in.
