Default how do I up the compression

i heard that pistons and cams are a good way to up my compression. If so, what type of pistons/cams should i be looking for? Is there anything else i can do in addition to that? Thanks for any help.

change your head gasket...have your head milled. You can gain quite a bit doing thoset wo things without having to touch the internals (i.e. pistons)

Well I would change the pistons and camshafts. Depending on the type of car you have, i'm sure there are JDM versions. They're usually better than the USDM one's. I'm looking to go all motor and pistons and camshafts are definitely on my list for mods.

like he said, thinner head gasket or having the head milled can raise your compression aside from swapping out the internals/pistons...just depends on how high you want to go...BTW, what motor are you planning on using?

lol^^^

I wouldn't recomend head milling to increase your C/R by a LOT. (ie more than 1 point).

Head milling throws off cam timing.

Do it right, and get yourself some high compression pistons.

If you change your piston to deck ratio, and run more agressive cams. You will not have adequite valve clearence pending certain cams. Not to mention your head and block must be milled perfectly otherwise a 1 layer head gasket will not form a good seal.

There is no other way to up the compression, other than to swap some ITR or CTR piston in there. Do no mill the head or block unless you never plan on running pump gas again with the CTR pistons. Also you wont be able to run agressive cams (Skunk stage 2s, Toda Spec B, C, etc.. ).

I recommend, CTR pistons for the 12: 1 compression and Toda Spec Cs

You up the compression with cams by getting cams that have a higher lift. In case you don't know, Lift is the height that the valve is lifted off of the valve seat. Usually the more lift within reason, the better as the higher the valve is lifted and the more flow that can go past it.

by decking the block and milling the head sure does raise compresion
but dont spect for the rest to remain the same.
cams get their timming retarded and have to be properly adjusted if not the
engine overheats.
as well that valves could impact piston
the safe way like he says get higher compression pistons and thats a given easy task.
and the rest should be easy..

You can't up the compression by adding cams. The cams just leave the valves open or closed longer to let more fuel into the combustion chamber.

Milling the head and block can up your compession, but if you really want to raise it I would suggest pistons. I think for every compression point you raise it you will get about 7-10 horswpower.

Mill your head, thinner head gasket, CTR or Weisco(sp?) pistons, and some Skunk 2 Stage 2's....IMO..

Thank you.....there are all kinds of detrimental aspect that can be done to your engine to screw it up but as long as it is done properley wheather it is milling the head, pistons or what ever you feel the need you should have nothing to worry about

CTR pistons and a 1 or 2 layer head gasket. That will definatley jump it up enough and still be a reliable daily driver.
