4th gen: EX header vs. all others??
i am in search of an aftermarket header for my 93, 10th anniversary ed. accord(basically a dolled-up LX). i was wondering what exactly is the difference between the EX header and all the other 4th gen headers? im an integra/bseries guy and im trying to learn as much as i can since this will be my daily driver. ive already had the horrific experience of changing rotors on this thing
.
also, will a 5th gen header fit a 4th gen??
the search function says DC sucks, greddy doesnt make one for a 4th gen, im not too sure about kamakazi, and i refuse to even consider obx. anyone have an airmass or heddman header??
thanks for your input guys,
john

all the OBX etc headers for the 4th gen are carbon copies of the DC....just made of cheaper materials.....BUT, the EX header itself is very well designed, it has slightly smaller tubular passages, but for the most part is very well designed. It's main flaw however is that it is HEAVY AS @#$@.
The DC doesn't suck, at least I have not had any troubles with it, and as far as dyno gains I have a dyno graph here somewhere (on my cd actually), of the header giving something like 7hp over the stock LX if my memory serves correctly, and a couple ft-lbs ...up top, and a ton down low. Anyhow, it's very nicely designed, and I like it myself?
As for greddy, fat chance, and the others are made, but you might as well go with the DC unless you just hate them.

thanks 92lx. i dont have any issues w/ DC, i just seems a lot of accord ppl dont like them.
so will an aftermarket EX header fit on an LX/DX? and if not, why?

this is actually a very broad topic. the differences between the ex manifold and all the other honda ones, is that it is a tri-y (4-2-1) design, and the rest are 4-1.
dc sports isn't too bad of an upgrade. a little expensive, but, that's ok.
the obx is the same as the dc sports, i'm not sure what quality it is though.
the kamikaze headers are a great 4-1 design. they were developed for FI(SC or N2O) and tuned exhaustively (is that a word) for it.

what about the chikara headers?
i have one on my new motor i just put in my car so i cant tell any diff yet
but in a side by side comparison the oem was bigger then the chikara!!!
is chikara just $#ity or what?

so will an aftermarket EX header fit on an LX/DX? some companies seem to list different part#s for the EX than the LX/DX, while others have the same part# for all three.
Trending Topics
The O2 sensor for the 4-2-1 (EX) design is underneath the car while the 4-1 is in the front of the engine near the fans. Some companies (like DC Sports) provide ports in both locations, some do not... probably why the different part numbers? I have had my ceramic DC header for a while and love it, definite improvement over stock. DC is a great company btw... people are whining about the price... it is worth it.
