What happen to the 92 Octane in California?
Why doesn't Chevron have 92 Octane anymore, only 91 with the damm same price? We all are getting Ripped-Off! Damm, time to change gasoline companys. Who's good and which do you recommend?
i've been noticing a lot of 91 around as well...sucks 455, mang.
i have to stick with chevron, though...at least it's not 91 costing us $2.25/gal or whatever, but still..
blah..
-k-b0t, who still hits the 92s as often as he can..

I thought Kali had restricted all stations to 91 octane... Did I not read something about that a week or two ago?
Chit, here in North Kackalacky, that's midgrade

Well I believe they lowered it because of emissions again. I was once told they may do it again if 91 oct doesn't do it for them to 90 oct.
They have 93oct and 94oct. Some places have 98-100oct. My friend told me about place with 105-114oct. fuel
Living here is not as bad some people may think.

Hehe, Sunoco 94 for about a 1.50....see, you may get the weather and the roads, but we don't feel bad about about getting 20 MPG driving like a55h0lez

The drop is not a mandate, it has to do with the phasing out of MTBE
Since MTBE has been proven to be dangerous, it was regluated out of usage, to be phased out by 2002 or something. The new formulas are using something else to take it's place (ethanol, I believe), which somehow reduces the octane, while also increasing the cubic volume. Net effect: more gas and lower prices. Difference between 91 and 92 is minimal
I don't see anyone complaining about the almost 20 cent drop in price... I know I'm not.
If I'm not mistaken, the R states 91 Pump octane, so it shouldn't matter.
You may be mistaken a bit in how octane rating works also. Lower octane means a FASTER burning gas. A higher octane rating is used to REDUCE predetonation or knock.

Dang... seems like Cali is going through everytype of shortage. Seems like a few years ago when we had fires, floods, and earthquakes.
huhuhuhu @ goch...
when you can't find the 92 octane girlies, j00 jast have to lower j00r standards to 87 or something, holmes. as long as j00 aren't knocking, j00'll be okay.
first sign of knock, cut out the low octane h00chies though, mang!
-k-b0t, who guesses all them EC kidd0z have higher girls or something...

TOSCO (76) had a statement on their website explaining it was because mainly of the higher cost of producing the 92 octane for California.
The other companies followed suit and are going with 91. Exxon and Mobil and some Arcos still had 92 last time I checked (Last week).
