Which Clutch for 330tq Street/Track
I currently am using the Clutchmasters Stage 4 and I am trying to decide if i should buy another Clutchmaster's Stage 4 or go with some thing new. I guess the Clutchmasters has just been worn out...
I have 400whp & 330tq and I drive this vehicle daily. I try to make it to the track at least every other weekend.
Here are some choices i was trying to decide between:
Clutchmasters Stage 4 or 5 (4 puck sprung or unspung)
Action 2MD (6 puck unsprung)
ACT XTR6 (6 puck unspung)
I was wondering if anyone could give me some first hand experience with these different clutches. I don't want to hear,"ACT
" or " A friend of a friends friend CM blew up on him" I would like some characteristics that separate these clutch kits from one another. If you have any other clutches suggestions please feel free to let me know.
Thanks for the help-
Corey

I have had a lot of good expeirence with Action clutches compared to ACT, clutch feel on the action is outsanding. You should also lighten the flywheel a couple of pounds as well. Hope this helps

I would suggest goìng w/ at lease a single plate clutch by exedy or Tilton.Yeah they're kinda expensive, but I heard stories about people breaking cranks w/ those cheap *** ACT clutches.Exedy makes a single plate,as well as Tilton, they range any where from 850-1000 bucks and it comes with a flywheel, and also good for about 500 hp. Both brands also carry a twin plate clutch as well for up to 600hp.I myself got the twin plate clutch and its grabs like a champ.

I'm all about CM. Jason had a stg.5 in his car for a year making 450-500 daily driven. Then we pulled it out of there and put it in my car for a year and a half after making 350+ daily driven. After beating the HELL out of it for all that time, it finally died a couple of months ago. I was VERY impressed. That convinced me to go with the CM twin disk now.
I know that you didn't ask about RPS but I am very pleased with my sprung 4 puck, and they stand behind there product
. They warrantied a street/strip disc for me and let me upgrade

these are the best for what you need in my opinion:
CM stage 5
CM twin disc with organic disc(more for the street)

We work pretty hard to deliver on what we promise and we have a lot invested in tooling, etc so I guess I take offense to these comments. We now build our B series pressure plates from scratch using our own design and tooling. We manufacture and certify most of our clutches to SFI specs and the response has been incredible. I am still looking to improve on our street discs even more in the future. I am not saying our clutches are everything to everyone, but broken cranks? Get real.
330 torque should not be a problem without having to spend bank.
