Default Increasing compression test numbers

No one is really answering my question in the tech forum so i'll ask here. Right now i haev a b16a1 but the compression test numbers are pretty damn shitty; it's about 145-155 across board.

I know i should be getting a leak down test, but b4hand i just wanna know what kinda things can be resulting in these low numbers

And also how does compression test numbers relate to compression ratios?

bad rings, leaks at the valve seats, etc can cause those low numbers. What u can do is pour a little bit of motor oil down into the spark plug hole and see if ur compression numbers go up. If they do then it most likely tells u that ur rings are not sealing that well. If it changes nothing then time for a valve job.

ok i did a wet compression test as well and my numbers went up aby about 20. Does this mean that if i replaced the rings, my compressino will increase by only 20?

how much approx does a valve job/replacement cost?

It sounds like it could be a combo of things (ring and valve problems, but u will have to wait until u get a leak down test) if the numbers only went up by 20. Then again if u got new rings they could go up to normal...i dont know. Head jobs vary from shop to shop..do some calling around and see what u come up with. BTW how much oil did u put in?

did you do the test with the engine/tbody at WOT? and how many times did you let it turn over?

either way, as you already know a leakdown test will be much better to pinpoint a possible problem, i'd wait for the before tearing anything down

I didn't put in too much oil. Had some oil in a styrofoam cup and put in about 15mL at max.

Would a leak down test tell me exactly where all the places i'm leaking from?

with the TB at WOT or not...the numbers will still come back the same. It will just take a lil bit longer for correct readings to show up when TB is left closed, i experimented with that already. Leak down test should pin point the problem(s).
