is 500 bux really worth it for ball bearing upgrade on drag or revhard kits??
i know it will spool up a whole lot faster but i assume if like for a person like me that is keeping low boost (6-8psi) its not gonna make any difference rite?
Expect it to spool up about 500 rpms quicker. Ball Bearing works best on bigger engines, but it will still spool up quicker, and will still prolong the turbo life
Art, that's what I always tell my customers. I will not sell you the BB option unless you just have to have it.
I have been told that the Ball Bearing turbo is a sick compressor, however I was also told that the life of the Ball Bearing isn't as long as the other.
I had a ball bearing t3/t4 before, i definitely loved it. regarding to Turbonetics' website, ball bearing turbo lasts longer and withstands 50 times as much as stress a regular turbo does.

I am in the exact same dilemma....
$550 is a lot of money, but if one were to go "all out" on their car, I'm guessing that including the ball bearing upgrade would be a must. For those with experience with the BB turbos, is it obvious that they spool up quicker or is it something that is pretty hard to notice? I've also heard the same thing that BB turbos last much longer than standard fluid bearing......
Hmmmmmm...what should I do? Any other advantages to having the BB upgrade? Will straight line acceleration be a little faster, thus dropping 1/4 mile times? What about turbo lag...is it pretty much diminished with the ball bearing internals?

imo get it if u really want it... also bb turbo's are rebuildable contrary to a prior statement... and they also do last longer
