Like most other BB turbos the spool up compared to the journal bearing equivalent is marginal; the only time you get a really noticeable increase in spool is when the compressor and the turbine are extremely mismatched in size... GT2540R, for example.

What you get out of BB turbos is the turbo doesn't spool down as quick and spools all the way back up quick during shifts when the turbo is partially spooled, and all the cool kids buy them so you get to hang out with the cool kids, too.

I'd get that turbo in journal bearing with the bigger stage 5 turbine wheel, and I don't even know what car this is going on.

That's a common misconception about ball bearing turbos...they actually DO NOT spool any faster than their journal bearing counterparts. If you switch from a journal bearing to a ball bearing, you'll only be spending money on unnecessary things to be "cool." The only thing you'll gain from the switch to a BB CHRA is increased transient response (gear-to-gear).

The reason the GT-R series performs the way they do is because the wheel design is matched to the BB CHRA. Simply slapping a BB CHRA on any old turbo isn't going to make it spool faster....sorry

^^Similarly, you can find great deals on Borg Warner S200's and S300's which spool as fast as the GT-R and make as much if not more power. They also do not require water lines AND are rebuildable (unlike BB CHRA turbos)

I guess I'm gonna stick with them non ball bearing then. It's only 630 shipped on Evans tuning.
