Need good Tire that wont rub in lowered setup
I am looking for a good "narrow width" tire for 15X6.5 '' rota Circuit 8's 38mm offsett. I have a 92 civic hatch. well there are these two possiblities. with my H&R sports setup
1. I trade my Rota circuit 8's 38mm offset in bronze for slipstreams 40mm offsett because the c8s stick out of the fender a lil bit moreand tire rubbing the fender was a problem w/ bfgoodridge euro ta 205/55's and the 38mm offsett. so After switching to slipstreams , get some nice 205/50's like kumo ecsta mx or ecsta supra 712 or yokahama avs es 100 or toyo proxies
2. keep the c8s and find a good tire size... can I get away w/ 205/50s? or will195/55's be perfect? do 195/50s suck?anyone who has similar drop and exact rim setup?

If you're looking for something that won't rub I'd suggest going with 195's instead of 205's... that's what I have and they're fine... does 10mm realy help all that much?
*edit*
Or go with a 205/45 instead of 205/50... the shortend sidewall may help in rubbing... might throw off the guages (but actually I think it'll be More accurate than the 205/50's if I'm not mistaken)).

Yeah I KNOW that a LOT of dudes here run 205's w/o major problems.. on pretty heafty drops...
I don't have a drop at all though... I just run the tire you should cuz I don't really car about extra width and 205 bragging rights (course I don't race either so...).
If there's no NEED for them I would say just go 195/50/15.. that's what the stock 185/60/14 "should" be upgraded to... going to a 205 is just to squeeze in a bit more of width... (again this is also dependend on the width of the wheel... if it's 7 or over you SHOULD go with a 205... but if it's 6-7 it should be 195)...
over sizing the width can also cause a dramatic LOSS in performance... it makes it harder for the sidewall to load and respond. One of the mechanics I used to work with would go off for hours about people who do that for "performance" but he's not exactly chief engineer at goodyear or whatever... but he knew his **** none the less.
but if you want the 205's I'm SURE there are a couple of brands out there that would fit fine... wait for some more people to chime in with personal experience...
good luck.

all three of us at my shop are running dunlop sp sport fm 901's. two of us love them, the third hates them. here's what we've got for suspension set ups, so maybe you can compare. also, none of us have any scrubbing issues. they have a 220 tread wear rating, which isn't that good, but i've put over 10,000 miles on them, and the only wear i've noticed was from the excessive camber i have.
mine: 1995 honda civic ex, approximately 140 bhp, H&R sport springs (same drop as yours), tokico gas shocks, enkei RS5 16" rims and 205/40/16 tires. i love them. they're great in dry weather, really good in heavy rain (who's got 100% traction in rain anyway, right?), and decent in light snow. in case you're wondering, i got mine in march, and it snowed a few times after that...**** happens when you're in wisconsin. i've only broken them loose about four times in a lot of hard driving... i've got an ACT clutch/pp...this becomes important later...
mike's: 1997 hyundai tiburon, dynoed at 125 hp, H&R sport springs (roughly same drop), stock shocks, sport edition fox 2 16" rims, also running 205/40/16. very happy with them, pretty much same commentary. powertone 6-puck racing clutch.
had kumho ecsta supra 712's that didn't last four months on the rear with less than a 1/4" off in toe setting.
jordan's: 1997 hyundai accent gl, somewhere around 100 bhp, H&R sport springs (same drop), stock shocks, hyundai tiburon fx 15" stock rims, 195/50/15s. hates them. says they don't grab at all in wet weather, only one who can chirp them into second gear, on stock clutch...must be that massive hyundai 1.5L horsepower...
our clutches will slip before these tires let go. like i said before, two of us like them, and none of us have any scrubbing issues. take what you can from this...
they are also listed at discounttiredirect.com for $67.00 each in a 195/50/15 size...

195/205 is fine, 215 will rub. If you're running azenis, then the 205's will rub too. Azenis aren't rated accurately for some odd reason.
Trending Topics
I measured my bf goodridges.. (205/55s) they are 8'' +pluss width on the tire contact surface and so are azenis 205/50s. Also the side wall is 3+ inches from outter lip of rim going to the top of the tread... this rubbed the fender bad! so are most 195/55s alot more narrow?
