Default A little advice..

I have a set of bronze 17inch knock off TE-37s, but man do they ever look good. I payed about $1800 Canadian for them but Ive been tryiing to sell them for about a month now, because Ive wanted something differetn, either smaller lighter rims or turbo parts.. so the other night I got a message saying someone will trade me all of this turbo stuff straight up for my rims, mind you he lives right in town a couple of blocks away.. a $2000+ value for my used rims.. I dont know if Its a good idea, cuz there is a lot of stuff missing, but this is what he wanted to trade.. is it a good idea, yes or no.. please help! I dont know much about turbo stuff

You know I said the same thing, but when you think of it..

Boost Gauge = 60 Canadian
Missing Link= 120 Canadian
Wastegate and Turbo all by Turbonetics used = 1000 CDN
Hump Hose and Fittings = 130
SAFC = 400 new (giving me a huge deal)

I dont really need Injectors or a Turbotimer yet..

so.. the extra parts are = to .. 1710 + 1600 I was selling my rims for.. = $3310
for a full turbo setup, not a shitty junkyard one..

And the cost for a good setup in Canada can go from 5000-8500

if you want to buy something, no logical advice in the world can stop you.

Anyways, this is high performance parts we're talking about here. We must use your ability to think:

1) what if any of the parts traded fail or have some problem? what if the turno is already installed and start to have problem while you're driving? will this failure, if any, cause you your car since you decided to go cheap?

2) why is he selling them? don't listen to his excuses but think carefully. Maybe he was involved in a car accident and other parts were dmaged beyond repair.

I don't know, it's up to you

He baught the parts seperatly, and when he got the turbo, it was broken. When he went to put it all on he realised the turbo was messed and he couldnt afford to buy another one. I know the guy, he just wants rims and doesnt want to worry about buying another turbo .. He was never in any accident, he lives in my town and I see his car parked everday at a local entertainment store..

If you have the knowledge and time to piece together your turbo kit, sure, go for it. How much are those wheels realistically worth, in USD, to give us a better idea. $1800 new translates to what in USD used?

Its up to you...you still need a decent amount of parts, but with what hes giving you you can definitely build an affordable and well performing custom kit...aside from that FMU garbage

I lost out on the deal, he purchased a turbo and put it on his car...

so now I have 1800 Canaidan and nothing close to a turbo setup...
