help no VTEC??????

Default help no VTEC??????

I just got my new head back, I got it ported poilshed new valves, springs, retainers, it's a b16 head on my b18c5 bottom end. The new head was put on, but now I have no vtec the car wont engage I have did everthing. I even hooked up a test light to the vtec seilnoid plug and carried it around in the car to see if I was getting voltage to the seilnoid, I was getting power becuase when vtec was supose to engage the light would come on. I have no Idea what to do now I have tried everthing it almost seems like there is no oil geting to the vtec selinod I dont know someone please help.

check your oil presssure......................................... ..

Definately check your oil while the motor is cold and on level ground. Please report your findings.

plenty of oil, my other question is the journal holes of a b18c5 head gasket different then a b16a head gasket.

Are you getting any engine codes? It might be possible that you switched the ect sensor plug with the vtec pressure switch plug.

It is a mechanical problem, not electrical. There is voltage at the VTEC solenoid at the crossover RPM. We tried 2 different VTEC solenoids. All oil orifices are in place. There are no flow restrictions through the rocker rods.

Oil level is fine.


How is the VTEC solenoid fed with oil? There are 5 ports on the head where the solenoid mounts and 1 is the output to the rockers. What are the other 4?
