Default something wrong with my engine???

i recently noticed my engine making an odd noise when my car is either idle or at <5mph. when taking turns at low speeds, it would make a weird noise, kinda like metal clanking. and tonite, i revved my engine to about 3k rpms and when the rpms are dropping back down, it makes an eerie, warping sound. anyone have any clue what might be wrong? as far as i know, i'm still getting normal gas mileage and power output seems fine. my car is a 96 accord lx coupe 5spd with 167k miles btw

nah, it can't be...
i've had my accord for almost 3 years now and i know what you're talking about. back when i first installed my intake, it made a rapid metal clanking sound cuz the mounting point was loose and rattling.
i've never had this problem in the 3 years i've had my accord. its not so much a metal clanking sound... more like a warping sound. could it possibly be a bad piston or something?

no... its coming from under the hood, that i'm sure of. and its not a buzzing sound.
i've had this car for almost 3 years and have never heard my engine make this noise. i tested it out in the garage... i revved to about 3k rpms and as the rpms went back down it makes a weird metal sounding warp sound. i'm sure it's nothing to do with my intake, header, or exhaust.

My guess is the intake manifold, or throttle body. Something in that area.

are you talking about the heat shield on the header? i replaced my stock header with dc sport header a long time ago... and i think if it were the heat shield, then it would make a rattling noise rather than a warping sound

bump
another problem i noticed... when i'm completely stopped, i turn the wheel and there's a somewhat loud metal clank sound coming from my passenger side front wheel. the power steering pump/belt have been replaced less than 1k miles ago.
so anyone have any clue what's up with the sound coming from under the hood and front passenger wheel?
ahhh... i say its about time to get rid of this damn car and get the mr2 i've been eyeing...
