My new intake setup..
I bought a short ram intake for my car a few months ago. On hot days or after driving for a while my car would feel really slow. A few weeks ago, i came home, poped the hood and felt the filter, it was HOT! So i built a heat shield. I was ugly and ghetto but it worked. Today i was bored and decided to make another one and add some cold air piping. It seems to work pretty good. After driving 50miles today, the filter was cold! Good sign. Here some pics.

it barely ever rains around here. and ive put the headlight back in. I only take it out when i goto Sears Point. The heat shield works really well and fits like a glove!
Dude, I have that exact setup (kind of). Insulating it will help out bigtime. Here is the link to my site w/ pics:

its alot harder to run piping down to the front of the bumper on the 92-95 because the opening is tiny. I dont really feel like cutting my bumper up so i just left the piping right behind it. I also have a lil track only ram air intake. Its alot quieter than the one with the filter one. Is there any way of getting some cold air into my filter?

because this who thing cost me $30. Plus i have the CX model and its only got 70bhp. Theres no point spending $200 on an intake thats not going to do anything for my car.
I'm not hating or anything, but.........
1. Why even use ducting if the headlight is out? Just take it out and you'll have all the air you want.
2. The larger size flex duct looks like dryer vent. This is usually not rigid enough to withstand air pushing on it at over 100 mph.
3. Perhaps you could box in your heatshield and have the bottom open where it can draw cool air from below.
