As i was replacing my t-stat today i noticed my air filter was pretty soiled after the recent storm here in missouri. which leads to my question to you folks that live where the weather is foul in the winter:

Should I relocate my filter back into the engine bay before the first snow?
Just to keep the salt, sand, snow etc. from contaminating my intake...

the salt and stuff shouldnt matter...thats what your filter does is catch all that. the water on the other hand can get through...if you dont drive the car daily then you should be fine. just dont drive it in the snow or rain and you will be set. but it wouldnt hurt to relocate it inside the engine bay.

cant you cut your cai and make a short ram for now and buy a coupling in the summer to put it back together?

i would think hooking the filter straight to the tb would cause turbulence right before the tb since the air is getting screened and brought in from every direction instead of being shot in straight through from piping. just my .2 cents though its not like you'll be flooring it in the snow anyways.

And if you have no choice, just don't have your foot on the throttle when you go through one just to be safe.

All that cold air will kill your gas mileage!
