Default How do I convert my motor to OBD1?

I know you can put an obd2 motor in a 92-95 civic by using the existing connectors and adding the appropriate wires where needed.

But how can I convert the OBD2 motor to OBD1? I have read that OBD1 rensponds better to mod/tuning.

Would the distributor for example would need to be changed to an OBD1 dizzy.

From what I understand, I would need a obd2 to obd1 coinversion harness and a p28.

Can I still use a chipped p28 wihtout a harness?

Just use the chipped p28 - the chasis harness from the shock towers to ECU is OBD-I wiring still

Actually, OBDI is easier to "mod/tune"
As an example, to use Hondata, you must convert your engine to OBDI. They didn't even bother developing a tunable ECU for the OBDII's.

if you don't go the route of the conversion harness, you will have to wire everything up yourself, no you can't use the obd1 distributor, or injector plugs,, and have to extend your o2 sensor. I went without buying the harness and wired everything my self, if your good at wiring do it that way and save yourself some cash, if your not then go buy the harness, it will save you time and headache if there's a problem somewhere. As for the p.28, either way if you wire it your self or buy the harness you will need a p.28 chipped or not. Do a search if you need more info, in a hurry and can't give you all the info.......obd1 is the way to go IMO...

i did that swap on my 94 del sol. went with a y8 motor and tranny. I swapped the alternator, injectors, drivers side mount, tranny mount. I swapped the internals on the OBD1 dizzy to the OBD2 case so all 3 ears mount perfectly. I used the p28 and OBD1 harness and everything works no CEL. hope this helps.

christ... I have an OBD-II GSR motor in my 94 VX (OBD-I)..

All I did was was take the GSR engine harness and plug it into the VX chasis harness with one plug left over, and for the ECU I used a chipped p08/p28..

Not chaning distributor and that crap - straight up plug and play, hell didnt wire **** either cuz I got the skank2 manifold..
