Hey i just have a question for you guys, a friend of mine is thinking about buying a new s2k and he was told by someone that there were problems with the car and that it would lose oil after 1k miles..does anyone have information on that? thanks in advance

 

From my experience that is false. I was told the same thing but have yet to see it happen and I've got near 30K on my car.

 

it varies engine to engine. but when you first get the car (new, not used) you need to check the oil level at least every other fill up at the gas station - after the oil goes to the bottom. you should check it at least every fill up. some engines burn lots of oil within their first 3K miles, some.. not at all. but there have been cases where someone failed to check it and then there was nothing in the pan. needless to say, the negligent owner had to buy a new engine.

 

yup...its true..most of my friends w/ S2k's have the same dissappearing oil trick problem...i also have it in my rsx-s as well...

 

I haven't noticed that on my brother's or my s2000. I have a little over 30k and he has about 5k.

Mine uses very little oil at 12000 miles.

 

Mine used a bit bit of oil prior to the motor being fully broken it. My S is a '01 and it barely has 11k on it right now, but I hardly use any oil or notice any loss now.
