how to tell if an engine is "healthy"
would good vacuum at idle, like 20-22 be enough? I understand that many things can go wrong, but in general, to know if your engine is okay, would relatively smooth idle + good idle vacuum be adequate? thanx
just do a compression test that should give you a general idea if you have a healthy motor and if you want to get more detailed do a leak down test
i know compression and leakdown test works great, but what i mean is, if you were driving, and suddenly, you think something went wrong but you are not too sure. would checking the idle vacuum be adequate to tell you if a more thorough investigation is required?
If you think some thing went wrong drive the car a little more and if it still seems like something is wrong do a compression test or leak down. Just by driving your own car you should be able to tell if something seems to be wrong.
