Default Compression test: low #'s

I did a compression test today on my 01 base. I did it because at idle the engine makes a click-click sound. It became more noticable when i put on Skunk2 cam-gears. Well my reading was (left to right) 180 - 150 - 170 - 150. I did a search and found that most people were running 210-240 constant. A weird thing i notice was on the 150 it made a pop at the end. I did it again but it didn't poped. Do these #'s look right???

Yeah two cilinders are a bit on the low site. Any blue smoke coming from the exhaust?

You can test it another way to. Start your engine and let it idle, pull the first(from left to right) sparkplugcap in the engine, the car should idle much lower for a short while,(Put the plugcap back when done and proceed to next plug) do this with every sparkplugcap, If you have lower compression in a cilinder the car will idle noticebly "higher" instead of lower like the other cilinders.

I think your piston rings are ready for replacement, take a leak test at a garage somewhere to and make sure what it is.

You can still drive your car with those readings, but the car will perform alot better with the normal compression ofcourse.

also make sure your cam gears are at 0 deg and 0 deg. you might get false compression readings if not.

did you notice the problem after the cam gears were installed? Your timing belt may be off by a tooth...

also make sure you aren't using one of those push in compression testors... they suck. Get the screw in type so you can be sure you're not the reason the test is loosing compression

I still havent tested my compression. I'm scared, I think a compression test is like finding out if you have HIV or not.

Well theres no blue smoke. just smoke when its cold, normal i guess. I don't think i need new rings, car only has 19,000 miles on it. I first heard the clicking the next day after a night when i was redlining on top of 3rd gear and i ATTEMPTED to shift into 4th but accidently went into 2nd . Some say i bent a valve or need them adjusted, others just ignore me.
