Default How do you torque studs?

Just been thinking here... I'm getting a lathe and milling machine this week. My headgasket or head is gone and I was thinking of trying to make some studs. I'm wondering how a person would normally torque studs into a block? Do you normally just apply loctite and put 2 nuts on the top?

Of course I'd have to research the metals a little first but I was thinking that I could make them if I just bought the proper round stock...
