Grinding noise comming from flywheel/distributor area ?
Its my moms car a 1991 accord 4 door, I was just using it for a semi long drive, and because the ac works so good in this 105 degree weather,... on the way back from the trip when I turned the car on I started hearing the griding noise, it go away for like 3 seconds and come back, it was like 1 am, I poped the hood and took a look and found out the grinding noise is comming from the dirtributor/flywheel area, so I drove it home and about 10 miles from home the check engine light came on, and when it was stopped, it would idle at around 1100 rpms and then drop and almost die, but i put it in nutral and reved it a tad,... well it made it home but I have no idea what is wrong with it, just wondering if any of have heard or had similar problems like this ? Check the code. Probably a bad distributor.

not sure might be your transaxle. is it auto or manuel trans. unless its a cvt most honda transaxles use constant mesh gears for there automatics. the counter gear on your input shaft might have got chiped or its not fully ingauging.also check your syncro's and blocking rings. hard to tell untill you get the code from you cel. might not even be you trany. could also be main bearing or thrust bearing. let us know how things turn out. good luck.
finnally figured out how to get the code and its a 9
"No. 1 Cylinder position (CYL)" then it says check the CYL sensor and the circuit
EDIT: So I did a search real quick and I saw a post about a guy saying he got that code and had to get another distributor, that sucks because like 7-8 months ago we replaced it with one out of a 92 civic cx

Remove the distributor cap to see if there us a bunch of brown powdery crap in there. The bearing is probably going.
