Default how to hold the axle still while tightening nut

using the wheel studs seems to strip them out
is there another way to hold the axle still while tigthening the axle nut

Lots of ways.

Step on the brakes. Might not be enough to prevent the wheel from turning.

Lock the flywheel or the crank pulley.

Impact them on.

hand tight the spindle nut, and put on rims with center piece off. lower car. can then torque down spindle nut to specs

Stick a screwdriver inside the hole on the outside of the caliper (there's an opening in the caliper where you can see through to the the rotor) and into the rotor. Works like a charm
