EK - obd2 b18c1 - P72 ECU - IAC - Help!!!
We finished up the wiring on my B18C1 and fired it up last night. It fired up, but it did not idle...threw a code 14 (obd2 P72 ecu). Looked it up...great - IAC, which explains the lack of cold idle. That was the only code she threw.
We let it warm up to see if it would idle once hot, which it did...at about 300 RPMs. However, it died not long after the low idle started, and now will not turn over at all.
Help!
We followed the EK wiring diagram from the hybrid-garage. We grounded the IAC to the block, as the P72 has a 2-pin IAC connector instead of the Civic's 3-pin.
Again, the only code the ECU threw was a 14...which makes me believe we've got the rest of the wiring right.
Where did we go wrong?
Is it possible that we fried the ECU since it now won't start? ...the ECU still throws the code 14.

The IACV will need to be rewired if you are using a CX or DX harness. Just use the plug off the Integra harness (2 wire) and match the colors to the Civic harness (3 wire). You will have an extra Orange wire that is unused, just tape it out of the way. Next you have to move the wire at A14 to A12. If you have the B18b or the B20b,z then your wiring is complete. Now comes the fun part, wiring up the Vtec and IAB (B18c1). Cut the plugs off the B engine harness that came with the motor ( leave enough wire to splice) and wire to the D engine harness at the ecu as follows:
Vtec Pressure switch C15
Vtec solenoid A8
Knock sensor D6
IAB solenoid (B18c) A26
There might already be wires at the ecu where you want to splice. Just cut the wire leaving enough room to strip and crimp and connect the wire coming from the new sensors on the motor. Tape off the other side of the wire since it was for the D sensors and won't be used anyway.

Awesome!
We've already got the IAB, VTEC selonoid, VTEC pressure switch, and knock sensor wired...
The only thing we didn't do was switch pin A14 with A12.
That's got to be it!
THANK YOU!!!

You did something wrong, unless I'm mis-reading. What fowler has explained is correct. You state above that you GROUNDED the IACV to the block...not something you should have done. The IACV is fed power from the Main Relay. The ECU controls the grounding of it.

gotcha.
now that i think about it, it may have been something else that we grounded to the block and not the IAC. i'll double-check when i get off work.
thanks for all the help.

I have one question...
Why is pin A14 on the CX harness labeled "IACVP", whereas pin A12 (which is where you're telling me to plug it into) on the GSR ECU is labled "IACV" (no "P" at the end)?
Integra DC GSR:
Civic EK CX:
Also - what do I do with pin A12 when I replace it with A14?
Thanks!

Because some ECU's controlled a 3-wire IACV, particularly the D16Y7's. It was fed 12v from the Main Relay and two control lines coming from the ECU...which is pin A13 and A14.
FYI - Everything works now...no codes!
However, we had to throw on a friend's distributor to make it work - I've got a bad one. I've found a few OBD II B18C distributors here, and have sent IMs...let me know if you've got one I can get quick!
Thanks again for all the help!!!

now i have a similar problem.. i swapped the iacp to the iacv signal spot...i run fine for a random amount of time *anywhere from 5 mins- 30 mins* then my check engine light comes on with the IAC code... could it be bad wires, i did cut the wires for it by the conector, and i also cut the postive to wire to the a12 spot. any ideas? Ive tried two different IACs...so i dont think they were both bad, one had less than 8000 miles on it
