question about compression with gsr block and b16 head with stock gsr pistons and rods?
well i scrapped my current project of gsr block with je pistons 12:2 qith b16 head and got a hold of a newer gsr short block that is complete with stock gsr pistons init. i used the compression calculator and found out that b18c block with us p72 gsr pistons wit b16 head will yield 9:8:1 compression. the reason i am using this block is because the other block need too much stuff it was gfar from complete plus i needed new bearings cuz if a new crank. now my quesiton is... is 9:8:1 compression too low for everydy driving with b16 head on b18c1 block with stock gsr internals? or so i have to upgrade the pistons to a slightly higher compression piston?
hjow slow will my motor be though lol with this 9:8:1 compression. wil i be losing HP compared tothe b16 i have now? or should i just fork out the cash and try to get a set of ITR pistons to raise the compression? i would hate to do all this and have the saem HP as my b16 just because i have too low compression. the whole reason im doing this is because i want close to the power of my old type r motor lol. or at least more than my shitty b16. heres the setup and maybe u guys can tell me what to expect hopefully and let me know what i should change...
b16 head
type r cams
type r intake manifold
b18c1 block
p72 gsr pistons and rods
any idea of what power im lookin at?

i mean a stock gsr motor has 10:1 compression and has about 170 hp tothe fly
since im putting on a b16 head its lowering it to 9:8:1 about how much HP am i going to lose, and what can i can i do to compensate for the loss
i was thinking of using the pr3 b16 pistons form my b16 could i use reuse these pistons if i replace the rings with brand new ones?

I had a poor man's setup jdm b16 head with a jdm b18c gsr bottom and it ran like ****. but before i built my bottom je 12:5:1 pistons with eagle rods, i switched my jdm b16 pistons into my block and it rocked. a total difference. if you dont have the funds, throw the b16 pistons in there.

i want to use the b16 pistons in my b18c1 block but what piston rings do i get for them. they are out of a jdm 1st gen b16 so the pistons are PR3 can i get these from my local honda dealer or will any piston rings for b series vtec pistons fit the PR3 b16 pistons?

i am pretty sure u can use a 99-00 si piston ring. try the dealer

All the rings are the same. If you want I have OEM Part #'s for both Riken and Teikou <sp?> both standard and O/S if needed.
try to get some p30 pistons (jdm b16 sir 2). they'll bump you up to 11.3:1 with b18c block and b16 head.
im in the middle of purchasing some for my jdm b18c. with my head, it'll bump me to 11.599:1
