Default CTR cams vs. skunk2 stage I

do you know which one give more hp?
also, with skunk2 stage I, do you need to upgrade springs and retainers?

Skunk2 Stage 1's

you can use stock springs and retainers (assuming you have an ITR or ITR valvetrain)

How much more aggressive are the Skunk2s over the CTR?

Get the CTR's they can be found for alot cheaper and they make around the same power. You also don't have to upgrade your valvetrain w/CTR or Skunk stg 1.

definately go with the CTR cams over the stage 1's. they make roughly the same power( dyno tuned of course), and you can get the ctr's for almost half of what you will pay for the stage 1's. and no you do not need to upgrade the valvetrain unless you plan on raising the rev limmiter.

if you can find the stage 1 about the same price as ctr then get the stage 1, if not ctr is fine. the reason i got the stage 1 because my friend sold it to me cheap.

about the same power.....i feel the stage 1 give little more.

does anyone have anything to back this up? dyno charts or something.

I believe that last time I was at the skunk site they displayed dyno charts, but I haven't seen performance charts on the CTR cams.

CTR cams are great, but Skunk2 Stage 1's are more agressive and give better gains. Especially if you build your motor even more. Skunk2 cams love compression as well.

I've seen Dyno charts where Stage 1's gave as much as 10wHP+ more over the ITR cams.

Do a search and you'll see tons of threads that are similar to this.

If you plan to boost your car in the future, I'd go with CTR cams, but if you are planning to go All Motor, then Skunk2.

Good Luck to you man.. i'm still trying to decide what to get for my car from these too.. i think i'm going to end up going with the CTR ones.... i been hearing too many bad storys about the Skunk 2s breaking, rather have a little less power, but make my motor last longer.

Skunks Stg 1's are bigger then CTR's and with the right tuning, in the end, youll be able to make more then the CTR's with skunk 1's...

There's a higher possibility that things can go wrong with aftermarket products but there's also a higher possibility to make more power.

Rather have reliable cams than to risk my motor on just a lil more power.

then dont mod your car at all.
this doesnt just apply to Skunk cams.. it applys to every aftermarket mod you do to your car... Skunk cams have been proven to be a very good quality. Sure, they have broke a couple..but can your really blame them when some people break ITR, CTR, HONDA STOCK CAMS!!! EVERY CAM MANUFACTURE HAS HAD SOME BROKEN CAMS! EVEN OEM MAKERS (<most likely because of bad installers).

Yep, most of the time it's because of a bad install. But not once have i heard about or seen a CTR cam break. Maybe there are some people had problems with them, but from what i seen on this board is junk2 breaking or having more problems with junk2 cams.

I was going to get the junk2 cams but for some reason i have a bad feeling about me getting them, so I'm just going to go with the CTR cams. Just knowing that it's OEM; makes me feel good.
