for the price...i'd say either get itr or ctr cams........if your going to spend 500+ on cams, might as well wait and get the stage 2's

ctr if you plan to keep stock valvetrain/revlimit. skunk2 stage1/2 really start to shine when you bump the compression and revlimit.

Stage 2
Idles like stock, and good power up to 9K. However, you need to upgrade your valvetrain.

And you will want to bump up your compresion if you want to make any power over the stage 1's.
IMO there is no comparison between the CTRs/ITRs and Skunk2's. The skunk2's are clearly a better cam. BTW, 2000+ spec ITR cams = CTR cams.

HIgh Compression makes any cam sing well into the power band.

Yes, but under stock compression there have been dyno charts showing the skunk2 stage 2's making the same power as stage1's.
Also, while you could get away with putting CTR's into a GSR with the stock GSR valve train, and sticking with the stock redline, I don't think you would be able to do that with the skunk2's. At the very least you would need ITR valve springs. Just another cost to think about.

if you want the skunk2 cams,(ex. stage 2,3) you will need more compression. so unless you want to swap out the pistons for higher compression as well, then i would go for the skunk2 b/c theyll make more power.
if you just want cams, ctr.but IMO, minus well go for the cams and pistons while your at it.

The stage 2's really require a better valve train than the stock ITR. Not to mention getting a different head (unless it was milled) would not bump up the compression enough for his motor to take full advantage of the stage 2's.
For mostly stock, stage 1's are the way to go.

No you can't... but you could move your intake valve springs over to the exhaust side...

It all depends on your goals, if you want to beef up the valvetrain, then go with the Skunk2, but if you plan on keeping it more modest, then the ITR/CTR cams will be all you need. And as mentioned earlier, the '00 and '01 ITR cams are identical to the CTR cams.
