i ordered a new axle ... and i need to find out how to take the halfshaft/intermediate shaft off my old axle and put it on the new one. how do i take it off? it doesn't look like it will go anywhere... just spin.

use a prybar and put it in the end where the halfshaft goes into the transaxle and pry it out.

 

Pry her off. There is a snap ring that is holding it on and it'll come off by just gently prying the thing.

 

I had the same problem. Had to take out the halfshaft and use a pry bar. Good luck!

i just removed the whole axel with the half shaft.. days later after messin around, it popped off (in basement, not on car, lol)

Yes, prybar and a vice is on my imediate future..... i can see it now.

 

Yeah i took the whole assembly out first them got them apart with a little tap from the hammer

 

the socket trick worked beautifully.
