Been getting mixed answers from people in my area, i want a definite answer, ok consider the engines are stock and or running same boost who would win?

1. b16a turbo VS b18b turbo

2. b16a all motor VS b18b turbo

 

this should be moved to forced induction forum, you would get a better answer there.

 

Naw most people are biased and i get diff answers, id figure why not ask the peolpe who actually have these setups. The forced induction guys say b18b turbo, the hybrid guys say b16a turbo, i get diff answers. People here actually have the setups so i wanna know what you guys run too and what you got.

 

There's just too many variables to give a straight answer. B16A transmissions have greatly different gear ratios than B18Bs, and the engines have different compressions. Running the same boost I'd figure a B16A would be faster, but since a B18B has a lower compression ratio you could up the boost with less worries than you could on a B16A.

See what I mean? Too many variables...

 

See my dilemma is, right now i got 2 engines available to me, a b18b or a b16a, i wanan eventually go forced induction but i wanna stay na for a while, those damn turbos are expensive! I wanna be bad *** and hit 12's, and im very undecided as to what engine to get, whats you guys oppinions. Turbo b18bs are nice with all that torque and turbo added to the combo seems to be a perfect fit, but the b16a i just cant overlook, its a nice engine in itself, just wanna know if its a good turbo engine i guess? what you guys think? what would you do?

 

if ur going turbo get a b18b for the lower compression and the added displacement... the motor should be cheaper than the b16a even tho u can get em pretty darn cheap now days...the money u save on the b18b can be put toward your turbo set up...plus is u ever blow the motor u could proabably find another one at a local junkyard...
