how do i know what kind of tranny i got?? how can i tell if it is a tranny out of a 96-00 civic ex?? thanks

The S4C is for the Si with a B16.

The EX tranny is a S40....but no serial number differences for a DX tranny vs. a EX. The EX has a different 2nd and 3rd gear and a different final drive ratio. Does a tranny have a vin plate on it also? If if does...look for a EJ8 in the vin
