Default Axle breakage

Am I the only one having trouble with this or is it a common thing? I am running the old dss.com stage 2 axles with an act xtss and phantom grip. Putting power down by 225/45/17 potenza re730's. Motor mounts are new also. As you can see by my setup, there's not that much power there. The axles are within maybe half an inch of being completely straight(linear). Twice now, I have twisted off the inner splines(section that actually goes inside the tranny, that you don't see after installed) at the differential, just short of the inner tripod housing. First time, it looked like it tootsie rolled(repeated hard launches throughout day), and that happened on a launch. The second time was on a full throttle 1-2 shift, looks like it actually heat stressed and broke. I am dumbfounded, b/c they say power handling is between 250-300hp area with an lsd. My motor is nowhere near that. Any thoughts are great, TIA.

not too many people break prelude axels, are you sure you are installing them all the way in and correctly? The only one that I know off that kept breaking his axels (which was still not too often) was my friend w/ a prelude hatch, and he was boosting and running 10s.

Im suprised that your braking them on street tires, no matter that they are 225's. Do you do a lot hard launches all the time? Shock loads are very hard on axles due to the amount of torsional stresses involved. You might think about a set of stage three's if you do do that many launches. Thas just my opinion.

ive broken 3 DSS axles on just a 55 shot of nitrous on a f22b2. Something is fucked up with those axles, checker/autozone/napa ones last longer.

these are the only 2 complaints i have heard about the DSS's. How long have the generic's lasted you? A buddy of mine has a b18c1 swap in his civic and he snaps the Advanced Auto ones left and right.

i snapped 4 advance auto axles in one month. i was pissed with them and went and got a used honda axle. those dss axles shouldn't break...of course dan's (aka rocketlude on old hp.com) has broken the old stage 4 axles before.

I talked with Frank at DSS, and he said it is the way the male inner joint is prepped. Something with the heat treating either weakens the nubs on the inside of the housing, or the splines that go into the tranny. I am going to get the axle made into a new stage 2 setup(old stage 3's), where they make it a female end housing (like the passengers side) and insert a spline section. They said this should do the trick.
