Default Cracked Wheel Studs? How hard to replace?

my friend has a 97+ prelude and he cracked his wheel studs. I've heard they're fairly simple to replace but how hard is it actually? its basically remove the front hub and then knock out the old ones and then put in the new ones right? please help!

Some claim you can take a wizard tool and knock off the back and push the remainder of the stud through. Then get a replacement and file one edge off rear of the stud, just enough you can make the angle pass from behind while hammering in the new.

I tried this on my teg the other day, I couldn't make it work. The angle is too sharp, without damaging the new threads or hole. I am going to replace it properly when I do the front wheel bearings.

Good luck, and if anybody knows any other trick without pulling the hub, please let us know.

Also, has anybody tried aftermarket wheel bearings, are there any qood quality ones out. OEM, are like 50 a piece....

i would rate this as a fairly simple job (though very time consuming) for someone farmiliar with suspension of their car. What i did was remove the steering knuckle, which includes loosening alot of diff bolts and breaking several ball joints loose. Take that off take it to a machine shop with a press.. i reused my old bearing cause i didnt wanna pay that much to replace them for no reason. if youre lucky and youre shop is careful, the bearing are reusable. Honestly i dont know youre mechanical ability, but this is a tough job and will require alot of work, and also a friend to drive you around for a day taking the greasy knuckles to a shop somewhere.

if i had to do it over again i would have taken it to Midas and let them do the whole thing. Greasy time consuming mess if you ask me
