Default A couple questions from a newb.

00 CBR600 F4 w/ 3K miles.
What RPM do you guys set your idle or have your idle at? Mine idles about 1500 when engine is warm,
When does your fan kick in? Mine kicks in when the needle is above halfway.
Do Honda bikes run hot? I guess I'm used to my civic where the needle NEVER goes above halfway unless something is not working.

bikes are made to be cooled by air, and when you sit at a light etc they do get hot and should show it by the temp gauge...my F3 used to get about halfway when the fan would kick on....it's normal, you can't compare apples to oranges w/ cars...HTH

I just figured 4 bangers from the same parent company would share similar traits. I guess since the radiator on the cbr is about half the size of the one on my civic, it doesn't cool as much.

Your idle is normal.

If your fan kicks on and does it's job to cool the bike off.. it's fine.
