Default heat issue HELP

just installed my turbo kit on my car. i removed the shroud and stock fan and replaced it with a slim fan on the front of the radiator. now my car runs HOT while driving on the highway and NORMAL while at idle and stop light to stop light. i have no idea what to do. the fan is working without the shroud or it would be over heating at idle also. when i turn the heater on while on the highway with the temp. on HOT it puts it on normal again.

Yes I'm sure it Is cause I can feel it push air. My car will idle all day in the normal range in florida heat but as soon as I start driving (only on the highway, city driving the gauge is fine) the temp gauge, goes up then as soon I come back to idle the temp gauges DROPS back to the normal range and has no problem

you have an airflow issue to the radiator. divert air any way possible to the radiator, put the fan as a pullr if you can and shroud it

sounds like you have yeah air flow issue or.. an air bubble in the system, if u put the heat on and turn it on to high the Blower that controls the air to the cabin acts a "radiator" fan because the heator core is the same thing as a radiator. So make sure its bled right and do what the other guy said and put the fan on the other side of the rad so its pulling it through.

The needle on the gauge moves really fast. When it starts to get hot the needle moves up fast then when I slow down the needle drops FAST like nothing was wrong. I have a thermal heat gun. With the needle right at the red line the hottest part of the system was on the thremistat housing which was 200 deg. The top hose was 180 and the bottom hose was 160. The radiator itself was no more then 205 on places not touched by the fan. It is doing the exact opposite of what an over heating problem should do!

Ps I pulled over on the highway right when it was at the red line on the gauge and shot it then. By the time I got stopped and out and opened the gauge was already almost to the normal area!

the factory temp gauge isnt perfectly accurate dont trust it so much, a few degrees cause cause it to peg hot.

Sounds like you may have already done heat damage to your car though

One word. SHROUD!!! Or put the stock fan back on. Keep thinking it's okay without one. That slim fan is probably barely doing it's job most of the time.

Truly sounds like the fan is blocking air flow or pushing coolant due to headgasket leak.

If the fan is not flowing the right direction and is acting as a pusher fan, it may not be working properly and causing some heat issues. Put it back as a puller fan, and make sure it flows a good amount of CFM.

The gauge is moving to fast and it drives to well in the city and idles all day in the heat. once I get it hot and stop it has no problems. If it was a shroud or cfm problem it would over heat at idle. There is mo air bubbles. The head gasket isn't pushing coolant out.

Nothing about that is normal heat problems.

I don't know everything that's why I'm on here to see if someone else had a problem like what time having but saying shroud is the fix tells me you haven't had this problem. It would over heat in traffic and at idle and it does it just fine. I've checked with a temp gun

Not a lot of load on an engine at idle, and turbo probably isn't boosting you know. But hey, good luck with shooting down everyone's suggestions.

That doesn't explain why it cools down though so fast and why the temp gun is reading so low while the gauge is reading so high. I'm not saying its not the shroud. There just hasn't been a good answer. with a good reason.

Oh! So you're beating on it. Explains a lot. Again. Good luck.
104 here yesterday. Hard highway driving IN boost. No issues. GA rad, slimfan and SHROUD.
Your fan situation is probably the culprit but you won't even consider it.

Ok again no explanation on why other then I have it so you should to. The shroud does nothing at speed when the wind is hitting radiator. The shroud is mostly for idle and city driving when the radiator isnt getting air forced on it. Also I live in Florida I know how hot it is.

Oh yeah. Keep overheating it like that and you won't have to worry about airflow.

I already said that might be the problem however you have still not explained WHY your answer solves my problems. Driving it and letting it idle to find symtoms isnt the samething as beating it.
