I think you shoudn't use the bypass valve at all.

It is more likely to get sucked up your intake than it is to help if you are sucking only water.

actually they fixed it where it won't suck the foam now but you can join the club of having the POS break in half like the rest of us did

I would consider just drilling a small hole in the top of the intake and put ductape over it. Remove when it rains hard.

exactly... i thought the bypass valves got recalled cause numerous people reported the foam breather getting dislodged and getting sucked in the throttle body.

Anyways the bypass sucks in air from the engine bay and not from where the filter sits. Principal: When you suck through a straw it draws liquid from the bottom, when you punch a hole in the straw you can no longer suck up liquid cause the suction is now drawn from the hole in the straw, same principal preventing hydrolock and proving air is drawn in from the engine bay and not from the filter.

Stock with K&N owns, plus it makes more power (from what I have seen on my car and others) just a thought

what's up kitkatR!?

i would also agree. i used to have an aem cold air intake and since have gone back to the stock airbox. better low end response and more peace of mind. plus, much easier to replace/clean the filter.

< broke as well.

I just some rubber hosing and clamped my two pieces togther after I took off my by-pass valve. I was worried about sucking up water too. Trust me unless you are an idiot it shouldn't be a problem. If I were you I'd just slap a K&N in the stock air box and be done with it.

Or you could waste money on the Comptech shitbox. j/k It's nice but if I have to do it again I would throw in a K&N as well. Maybe modify the stock air box to flow a little more freely.
