My bypass valve broke, so I put a 3 inch PVC pipe with clamps between the gap where the bypass valve used to be. My question is will I lose power or gain with the PVC pipe?

 

Not suprised...

You won't be loosing power with the pvc pipe as long as it is smooth and does not add turbulence.

 

its louder for sure, the smooth part I dont understand because when I installed the pipe it was like a bubble in the middle of the pipe...should I smooth that part out

 

When I say smooth I mean smooth like the rest of the intake. You don't any bumps that will block air flow.

AEM backs up all their products. Call them and I'm sure they will send a replacement.

 

They will replace it , they replaced 4 for me until i got pissed and got my money back

 

Hahahah your by pass valve broke too huh? Welcome to the club Mine broke about 3 weeks ago.

 

A few years back they had sent out a memo regarding defective bypass valves. I called them up (almost 2 years ago) and they sent me a clip to install so that in case the bypass valve brakes it won't get sucked into the TB. Mine seems to be fine.
I'd just call up AEM and tell them. They should send you a replacement..
