Default Just raced an Evolution with 1,000 miles on it

Hey whats up, i was just cruising around and i saw a black new lancer here in suffolk county, over by rt 83. I waved him onto rt 83 (Long, perfect road around us for racing, rarely any cops ever and if there are you will see them) we were bsing at the light and it turned green but we went on the count of three, off the line he had a car, it didnt seem like he launched it as hard as he could of though, than i miss shifted second finally got it in and i was 2 cars back, he pulled about another half a car than we stayed just about that distance till about 115. I felt my self creeping back a little when i was hitting the top of 4th but he shut down, ahead of me by about 2 cars. Oh well, i knew i was loosing, but i thought a little bit worse. Those cars are great, except the Tail lights, EWW. But i hear the japanese tail lights fit them. #1 mod for me right there if i had that car.... but if i didnt miss second the race would of been closer, his lead was all within 0-60 after that i really feel our cars were pretty even. I wanted to get him from a roll but we were stuck in a little traffic and he said he had to go. Nice race, nice guy, on a nice DAY .... one of the many reasons i love my s2k. Later.....

ps. anyone else race one these machines??

just be happy than your N/A 2.0 liter can hold its own against an AWD turbo 4 banger.

Actually, my friend sold his ITR and picked up a new Evo. I ran him before I swapped blocks and was a stock b16a in the hatch and he put several, several cars on me in 4th. Was pretty close through 3rd. He took it to the track and busted out 14.0's. Took it again the next week, messed with his shift points and launch and got some 13.5's completely stock. Not too shabby of a car

Nice.. I think without a misshift it would've been a little closer. Also, when the EVO gets more mileage on her, it should be even quicker.

that seems about right than. 13.5 stock is running with vettes tottally stock, thats sick. I really did feel myself pulling on him a slight bit at the top of 3rd and 4th, what size turbo is on them? My new goal now in my s2000 is to get it faster than all these sti's, and evo's that are gonna be running around now...

Sounds like your driving skill is there. Get some nice bolt-ons and some dyno time and you'll be running stronger..

And will that title of being "faster" include any type of driving other than illegal street racing?

The S2K is not a street racing/drag car.

The s2k really isn't a drag car, as most honda's are not. Personally, I'll leave the drag racing to the American v8's. (Not that it isn't fun in a S2k, I just think the 50/50 weight balance and sub 3000lbs weight make it nice for turning)

Running a 13.5 in a C5 is like running a 15.0 in an S2000.

a regular 00 corvette 6 speed on the street, i bet, is not driven quiker than a 13.4 in 80% of the time.

I'd say over 99% of the time they don't even race on the street. And if they do, we're trying to compare with equal drivers, so a great run of a 13.5 in an EVO doesn't really compare in the same way to a poor run of a 13.4 in a C5.

If you wanna talk about wet-track quarters or off roading though, I think the EVO would leave the vette and many other more expensive cars far behind.

Anyway, thats my $.02..

stock c5s run 13.0s, z06, depending on the year mid high 12s. Spray your S with a nice 75 shot and see how u do.
