Questions about my turbo lude
Ok I am kind of new at the FI scene. But I am learning as much as possible. So don’t mind the ignorant questions if there is. Thanks in advance
. Ok I have an f-max kit on my prelude. Recently I have rebuilt my block, resleeved, JE pistons crower rods, the hole nine yards. Ok, I am in the break in period now, but I have noticed one thing, it seems like it is taking a bit for the boost to kick in, granted its turned down to like 4 psi. But it just don’t feel right, before it was rebuilt it felt right and had lots of power, but now it seems like it’s starving for fuel or something. The engine itself seems fine, runs great. I know I got to upgrade my fuel pump, and do some more things, but I guess I am getting kind of disappointed due to all the money I have put in it, and not doing what it should, heh its prob something silly like spark plug wires or something to that nature I hope. Any help will be appreciated.

You mean 9:1. Did you play with the MF2 at all? Try raising the fuel some and see how it feels. You are going to feel some loss of power going to lower compression pistons. Going up to 4psi at 9:1 compression isn't as powerful as 4psi at 10:1 compression, but you can turn up the boost alot higher.
Otherwise, you might want to do a compression check to make sure the machine shop knew what they were doing. After the break in of course. If that's okay, I wouldn't worry about it until you can put it on a dyno with a wideband.
Aren't you going with Hondata?

Ok what all can i do with hondata? I checked the site out and it just said stage one? If i go with hondata, what stage would i need? Cause all the stages are kinda pricey. And as for the MF2 I am not sure how to adjust it properly. As for the compression check everything is good to specs, so maybe it needs some major tuning, i dunno.
To tune the MF2, you need to open it up. It's also much easier if your run it into your cabin. I just used a 9pin serial extension cable to do it.
There's a line of pots along the top of it that are used to adjust the amount of fuel. The pots are pretty sensitive, so just turn them a touch. F-max has already marked the pots with black marker so you know where to return them to if you realy screw up. I use a little eyeglass screwdriver to turn them. Above each pot is the RPM that the pot effects, 1000, 2000, 3000, up to 9000 and there's a little LED underneath the pot that show you which one it's using at the time. e.g. when you're at 6000 rpms the 6000 rpm led will be lit.
There's also two other pots on the board that you can adjust. One effects the turn on pressure for the secondary injectors which should be set so the injectors turn on just below ambient pressure and one effect the rate of fuel increase based on pressure.
The instructions are in the manual, and here: http://www.aquamist.co.uk/cp/mf2/techmf2/mf2tec.html
This is an older picture of my interior showing where I mounted the MF2 so I can adjust it and watch the status lights while driving: http://www.hondaprelude.to/gallery/i...e=DSC00015.JPG
As for the Hondata, there's some other threads in here on that. Read the thread 'Idling Large Injectors???' and do a search on Hondata. With the JE pistons and Crower rods you can push alot of boost and the MF2 isn't up to it unless you do a 4 injector mod. I would suggest getting some kind of standalone.

Yea i got my MF2 in the cabin also. Well as in the MF2, how much boost can it handle? I plan on upgraded my injectors, pretty soon. What kinda stand alone systems can i get for it? Now if I upgrade my injectors the MF2 will be able to handle the high boost levels but if i dont upgrade the injectors, the MR2 wont be able to handle it right? Thats were the hondata or stand alone would come in handy? Also I got a field VAFC would that help me in any way possible also. You have been a very big help to me, from were i am from there isnt any shops that can help me, even if there is they only deal with simple stuff or domestic cars. Kinda downfall for me. I hope you don't mind me picking your brain, I am learning and want to things right from the start. Thanks again...

Pure lude has the hondata and is in the tuning process, look up his posts. If you are all alone, and there is no dyno around, you may have to invest in some testing equipment.... Wide band o2 and maybe the blitz power meter id. I ordered one, so I'll tell all of its performance if I can test it against a chasis dyno.....
